School Measures Before Voters

Voters will decide three school measures Tuesday in northeastern Washington, including a $5.9 million construction bond measure in the Deer Park School District.

The district, which lies in Spokane and Stevens counties, is proposing a 20-year bond measure to build a new elementary school and expand Deer Park High School. The measure would cost an estimated $1.02 per $1,000 of assessed property value.

In Pend Oreille County, the Cusick School District is seeking a two-year, $275,000-a-year operating levy that would cost an estimated 96 cents per $1,000 of assessed value.

In Ferry County, Curlew School District patrons are voting on a two-year, $80,000-a-year operating levy that would cost an estimated $1.23 per $1,000 of assessed value.

The only nonschool item on area ballots Tuesday is in Whitman County, where the Oakesdale-Farmington Fire District No. 10 is holding a special tax levy election.

The $103,821 tax levy would equal $2.20 or less per $1,000 of assessed valuation for the financing of two new fire station buildings in the towns of Oakesdale and Farmington.
