87-Year-Old Dies Shortly After Return

An 87-year-old Nespelem, Wash., man died Thursday - less than 48 hours after searchers found him near the convalescent center from which he disappeared.

Barney Banning was admitted to the Coulee Community Hospital in Grand Coulee on Tuesday suffering from exposure and dehydration.

He had walked away from the Colville Tribal Convalescent Center in Nespelem on Sunday and was found two days later about 200 yards from the center, Colville tribal police said.
