Spotlight: Whitewater Rafting

The Spokane River provides some challenging whitewater rafting, and members of the Northwest Whitewater Association will tackle it Thursday nights beginning this Thursday.

Folks participating “must have solid Class III skills,” said association president Paul Delaney, and wear a Type III PFD.

Floaters begin meeting at 5 p.m. at the Meenach Bridge put-in at Fort Wright and launch about 6. Depending on water levels, the floats last 1 to 2 hours.

Also depending on water levels, floats can be canceled without notice. They’ll likely run through July, and maybe later.
