Kent Man Charged In Attacks On Prostitutes During Summer
A 34-year-old Kent man has been charged in connection with four attacks last summer on prostitutes who worked along the Pacific Highway South.
Jamal N. Khan is being held at the Regional Justice Center in Kent on $500,000 bail, charged with three counts of first-degree attempted rape, first-degree rape, attempted murder and kidnapping. Khan has denied any attacks on the prostitutes.
According to court papers, King County police detectives were investigating the homicide of a South King County prostitute whose skeletal remains were discovered Feb. 25 by a dog in a wooded area near the junction of Highway 18 and Interstate 90.
Investigators interviewed four prostitutes who described being attacked by a man who threatened to cut them into pieces and throw them into the river.
One of the women had reported the attempted rape to Kent Police last July after a man picked her up on Pacific Highway South. The man held a knife against her throat and attempted to remove her clothing.
