Echo Bay Reports Loss
Echo Bay Mines, which operates the Kettle River Mine near Republic, Wash., reported third quarter losses of $19.9 million.
Losses for the Englewood, Colo., company amounted to 17 cents per share. That compares with losses of $6 million for the same quarter last year.
At the Kettle River operations, third-quarter gold production declined, due to deeper ore bodies and longer hauling distances. As a result, the number of tons of ore available for processing decreased 15 percent.
