School Vandalized; Two Arrested

Two youths were arrested after being caught breaking windows with baseball bats at Orchard Center Elementary School on Halloween night.

West Valley School District personnel caught the boys in the act.

The boys, both middle school students, admitted they had painted graffiti on the school earlier in October.

The graffiti warned that a bomb would be put in the school on Oct. 31. The district’s two security officers and another employee made checks on all West Valley schools on Sunday evening.

While graffiti appears on school district property several times a year, “we don’t normally have people with baseball bats breaking out windows,” said Joe Dawson, head of transportation for West Valley.

Each boy was charged with two counts of felony vandalism.
