Wilma Spaeder Spokane
Service for Wilma R. Spaeder, 87, will be at 5 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Spaeder, who was born in Monticello, Ill., died Wednesday.
She was a 21-year Spokane resident.
Mrs. Spaeder graduated from Illinois State Normal University in 1933, and worked as a teacher and school director. She retired in 1989 from the express program at Adams Elementary.
Mrs. Spaeder is survived by her daughter, Susan Whaley of Spokane; and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Humane Society.
Shigeru Matsumoto Spokane
No service will be held for Shigeru Matsumoto, 78, at his request. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 50-year Spokane County resident, Mr. Matsumoto died Oct. 28. He was born in Seattle, and graduated from Kent (Wash.) High School.
Mr. Matsumoto was a farmer in the Chattaroy area.
Survivors include three brothers, Tadashi Matsumoto of Chattaroy, George Matsumoto of Richland and Toshio Matsumoto of Deltona, Fla.; three sisters, Fumiko Matsumoto of Spokane, Michiko Fujioka of Chattaroy and Marion Low of Scarsborough, Ontario.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chattaroy Fire Department, Chattaroy, WA 99003.
John Miller Ione, Wash.
Private memorial service for John Clayton Miller, 83, will be held at a later date. Sherman Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
A 14-year Ione resident, Mr. Miller died Thursday. He was born in Craig, Mo.
In 1941 he moved to the Northwest and worked near St. Maries. He joined the Army in 1942 and served as a medic in the New Guinea Campaign.
Mr. Miller married Marion Beaubien in 1945.
He was self employed in the heating and cooling industry.
His wife died in 1993.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Miller of Ione and James Miller of Ocean Park, Wash.; a brother, Dorrel Miller of Quesnel, British Columbia; four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Florence Swanson Spokane
No service will be held for Florence Kathleen Swanson, 65. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 10-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Swanson died Tuesday. She was born in West Richfield, Ohio.
In 1968 she married Edward Swanson Jr.
Mrs. Swanson worked as a registered nurse.
Her husband died in 1988.
There are no surviving family members.
Amy Galbraith Wellpinit, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Amy M. Galbraith, 87, will be at 10 a.m. today at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, Wash. Burial will follow at the Wellpinit Roman Catholic Cemetery.
A lifetime Wellpinit resident, Mrs. Galbraith died Thursday.
She graduated from Wellpinit High School.
Mrs. Galbraith was a homemaker, and a member of the Spokane Tribe of Indians.
Her husband, Merritt, preceded her in death.
Survivors include three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.
William Arlt Wilson Creek, Wash.
No service will be held for William Martin Arlt, 74. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Arlt, who was born in Ritzville, Wash., died Monday.
In 1953 he married Patricia Hackley. They divorced in 1964.
Mr. Arlt was a farmer in the Ritzville area and later a heavy construction machinery operator in Australia.
He returned to the United States in 1992 and moved to Wilson Creek three years ago.
Survivors include two daughters, Valerie Birdson of Vancouver, Wash., and Billie Arlt of Long Beach, Calif.; his mother, Lydia Owens of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a brother, Howard Arlt of Stites, Idaho; and a granddaughter.

Tina Buck Davenport, Wash.
Memorial service for Tina M. Buck, 32, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Davenport resident, Miss Buck died Thursday from cancer.
She graduated from Davenport High School in 1987.
Miss Buck was a volunteer at Sunshine Pre-School and with the special education students in the Davenport School District. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport.
Survivors include her parents, Jack and Sharon Buck of Davenport; a brother, Mike Buck of Davenport; a sister, Lori Pecha of Spokane; and her grandmother, Hazel Painter of Davenport.
Ruby (Hummel) Camus Chewelah, Wash.
Graveside service for Ruby Mari (Hummel) Camus, 75, was Friday at Chewelah Memorial Park.
Mrs. Camus, who died Tuesday, was born in San Luis Obispo, Calif.
She served in the Navy from 1943 to 1947.
Mrs. Camus was a member of the Chewelah Women’s Bowling Association.
Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Melvin; a son, John Camus of Lake Quinault, Wash.; four daugthers, Anna Potvin of Chewelah, Catherine Hines of Ocean Shores, Wash., Aurelia Rose of Amanda Park, Wash., and Alice Boling of Fayetteville, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Annie `Vera’ Jones Spokane
Graveside service for Annie “Vera” Jones, 78, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riverside Memorial Park. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 51-year Spokane resident, Miss Jones died Wednesday.
She had worked as a nurses aide at Mount St. Joseph in Spokane for more than 20 years.
Survivors include a niece, Dellvera Allen, and a nephew, Frank Hornby, both of Spokane.
Henry `Red’ Emerson Jr. Cathedral City, Calif.
Inurnment for Harry M. Emerson Jr., 74, will be held at a later date at Pines Cemetery in Spokane.
Born in Great Falls, Mont., Mr. Emerson died Oct. 23.
He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1942, and served in the Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was discharged as a technical sergeant.
In 1947 he married Marjorie Storey.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Idaho in 1949.
Mr. Emerson was a cashier at the State Bank of Clarkston (Wash.) for five years. He began working for First Security Bank in Idaho in 1954 and became general manager and vice president in Lewiston. He founded the First National Bank of Cut Bank in Montana in 1960.
In 1965 he became the vice president of the Spokane and Eastern branch of Seattle First National Bank in Spokane. He returned to Lewiston in 1972 and began working for the Idaho First National Bank. He was manager at the Lewis-Clark office and then vice president and manager of the Lewiston office. He became president and chief executive officer of Oregon First Bank in Portland in 1983.
Mr. Emerson moved back to Lewiston in 1985 and worked as a consultant to the banking industry. He retired in 1986 and moved to Cathedral City in 1988.
Mr. Emerson was a member of the Clarkston and Manito golf and country clubs, the board of the Lewiston Boys Club, the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce, the Retail Credit Association and the board at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Teresa Lowe of Veradale; two sons, Craig Emerson of Boise and Harry Emerson III of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Jessica Webster Butte, Mont.
Memorial service for Jessica Lyn Webster, 18, was Friday in Anaconda, Mont. Duggan-Dolan Mortuary in Butte was in charge of arrangements.
Miss Webster, who was born in Butte, died Sunday from injuries suffered in a automobile accident.
She moved to Spokane with her father, Fredrick Webster and attended Ferris High School.
She graduated from Anaconda (Mont.) High School this year.
Survivors include her mother, Nancy Davis of Butte; three brothers, Scott Webster of Spokane, and Wayne and Michael Challeen, both of Butte; three sisters, Tricia Webster of Spokane, Britne Webster of Pullman and Selina Pankovich of Opportunity, Mont.; her grandparents, Fred and Lorna Webster of Spokane; and her great-grandmother, Pauline Webster of Butte.
