Rugrats Invading Northtown

Tina Carey Correspondent

The Rugrats are coming, the Rugrats are coming. If your child loves those cute little guys, Chuckie and Tommy, from Nickelodeon’s animated children’s show “Rugrats” they’ll be in for a real treat.

The duo will be available for pictures from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the common area between Eyemasters and FranklinCovey on the second level of NorthTown Mall, 4750 N. Division.

In addition, the Safe Kids Identification Disc program will be available during that time. SKIDS is a child identification program in case your child is lost or missing.

For information about these two events, call the mall at 482-0209.

* Family Fun Time: Lever 2000 is offering a free brochure that helps families learn how to have “Around the Clock Family Fun.”

The colorful brochure is filled with ideas like asking your kids to turn on their favorite music so you all can listen, danceand have fun while cleaning up the kitchen after dinner. To get a copy, call (800) 293-8138.

* Children’s Health Tips: The Children’s Medical Center of Dallas reports in a recent newsletter that some parents fret over whether their child is well enough to return to school after an illness.

We all know that cold and flu season has begun, so here are some tips offered by the experts:

* Know your son/daughter’s health history. An average sickness length can help you gauge their wellness track.

* Keep your eye out for signs of recovery.

* Consult with your child’s doctor about the incubation or infectious period for their illness.

* Make sure your children are properly immunized.

* New Web site: The holidays will be here before you can blink. A new Web site, at MyFamily.com, can help bring military personnel and their families together during the holiday season even though they can’t come home.

Service men and women can instantly share photos, keep up on family news, participate in chats and stay connected with family and friends throughout the world. To check it out visit www.myfamily.com.

* New Product: Travel the World with Timmy, a CD-ROM game by IBM and put out through Edmark, can help children ages 4-7 explore lands and languages while building school skills. Timmy, a friendly alligator, will take them into different cultures, help with reading, math and arts and crafts.

The game is for both MacIntosh and Windows-based systems and is available at most major software retailers for approximately $29.95.

For more information, call Edmark’s Customer Service Department at (800) 691-2985 or visit their Web site at www.edmark.com.
