Traffic Stop Ends In Arrest
Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Chattaroy man Saturday for possession of stolen property.
At about 9 p.m., in the area of 6600 N. Division, deputies questioned the driver of a 1974 Ford van with Idaho license plates about an expired license and traffic violations.
The driver initially identified himself as Gregory A. Taylor, but was later identified as Larry G. Taylor, 39, said Spokane County Sheriff’s inspector David Wiyrick.
Deputies found that the van’s license plate had been registered to a 1990 Chevrolet van, indicating that the plates had been switched, Wiyrick said.
Deputies then discovered that Taylor had a checkbook belonging to someone with a different name. When they contacted the person named on the checkbook, she said her checkbook had been stolen and that checks had been forged, Wiyrick said.
In the van, deputies also found a syringe they suspected of containing a controlled substance, Wiyrick added.
Taylor was charged with driving with a suspended license, refusal to cooperate/give information to a police officer and possession of stolen property.
Wiyrick said Taylor also had an outstanding felony arrest warrant.
