* Actress Camille Cooper will talk about the media’s myth of female beauty on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Showalter Auditorium at Eastern Washington University. Admission is free.

Cooper has appeared in the films “Like Father, Like Son,” “Lawnmower Man 2,” “Shocker” and “Meet the Applegates.” At the age of 17, while at 5 foot 6-1/2 inches tall and weighing 125 pounds she was told to “lose the baby fat.” She lost 15 pounds and ended up in the emergency room.

She is co-chair of the Committee for the Empowerment of Young Women, a national organization dedicated to helping teenage girls gain self-understanding and confidence.
