First quarter

Washington State 3, Hawaii 0: Rian Lindell 41-yard field goal. Six plays, 30 yards, 1:39. Deon Burnett’s 17-yard run turned the Cougars good field position into their first score of the game.

Third Quarter

WSU 6, Hawaii 0: Lindell 36-yard field goal. Fourteen plays, 61 yards, 5:09. Quarterback Jason Gesser hit passes of 16 yards to Nian Taylor and 13 yards to Paul Mencke to keep the Cougars moving down the field. Gesser also scampered for 13 yards on a quarterback draw.

Hawaii 7, WSU 6: Dwight Carter 75yards from Dan Robinson, Eric Hannum kick. Two plays, 75 yards, :20. Carter got free against cornerback Marcus Trufant and Robinson found him. Safety Billy Newman tried to close on Carter, but was blocked out of the play.

WSU 12, Hawaii 7: Adam Hawkins 30-yard run, conversion failed. Two plays, 46 yards, :15. Marcus Trufant intercepted Robinson at the WSU 9-yard line and returned it to the Hawaii 46. After a one-yard run and a facemask penalty, Hawkins went around the right side for the score.

Hawaii 14, WSU 12: Anthony Smith 38-yard fumble return, Hannum kick. One play, 38 yards. Washington State’s Nian Taylor caught the ball but was striped by Shawndel Tucker. Smith picked the ball off the carpet and ran untouched into the end zone.

Fourth Quarter

WSU 15, Hawaii 14: Lindell 24-yard field goal. Ten plays, 73 yards, 4:33. Adam Hawkins ran for 48 yards to set up the go-ahead field goal. For Lindell it was his third field goal of the game.

WSU 22, Hawaii 14: Hawkins 6-yard run, Lindell kick. Four plays, 20 yards, 1:25. After holding Hawaii and forcing a turnover on downs, the Cougars took over and took control with Hawkins.
