Students Offered Free Immunizations

From Staff

Students in middle school and high school in Coeur d’Alene can get free immunizations today.

The Panhandle Health District will offer the shots, paid for by a North Idaho Nurses Consortium grant, from 7-8:30 a.m. and 3-6 p.m. at the health district office. No appointment is needed, and a parent must accompany children under 14.

Nurses will administer shots to protect against hepatitis B, tetanus, MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and chicken pox. Health officials recommend an MMR booster shot during adolescence, and some colleges require it for admission.

Other free immunization days will be held Nov. 5 and Dec. 10.
