Holy Trinity Lutheran Marks 40 Years

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines, is celebrating its 40th anniversary next weekend.

A banquet will be held next Saturday at 6 p.m., followed by a historical slide show.

A special worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 10. Bishop Martin Wells will be in attendance, along with several former pastors of the church. The founding pastor, Rev. Craig Thorpe, is also expected to be in attendance. A reception will follow.

The church building was dedicated in 1959 after the congregation spent two years meeting at McDonald Elementary School, says pastor Mike Sager.

The current sanctuary was added on in 1994 and the former sanctuary was converted to classrooms. The dinner is $5 per person, with advance reservations required. Call the church office at 926-7966.

Missionaries at Foothills

Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Road, is hosting a missions conference Sunday through Wednesday.

Guest speakers include Duane and Nadine Howe of New Tribes Mission, Rob and Debbie Hoffman of Village Missions and Christ and Marchauna Rodgers, Campus Crusade for Christ appointees.

All missionaries will be speaking during the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday as well as during the Sunday School classes at 9:45 a.m. There will be aily lectures at 6:30 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Lunch Bunch

Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines Road, is once again hosting Lunch Bunch discussions.

The sessions are held from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday during October.

Panelists will give a 5-minute talk each week, followed by discussion.

Topics are: “ Did Jesus really come to give us peace?”; “Should religion, including the Ten Commandments, be included in school curriculums?”; “Is hell a literal place or state of mind?”; and “Does the the first amendment give us the right to do and say anything we chose?”

The sessions are free and participants are welcome to bring a brown-bag lunch. Call the church office at 926-3691 for more information.

Evangelist at Pines Baptist

Evangelist Homer Martinez will host a mini-revival this week at Pines Baptist Church, 714 S. Pines. He will speak at 6 p.m. Sunday and 7 p.m. Monday.

Grace Harvest hosts speakers

Several guest speakers will appear this week at Grace Harvest Fellowship, 15601 E. 24th. John Bevere of Colorado Springs, will speak at the 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. worship services Sunday and at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Brian Zahnd of St. Joseph, Mo., will speak at 7 p.m. Monday. Rick Renner from Russia will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. Call 926-3254 for information.

Missionary at Valley Fourth

Missionary Ray Badgero will speak at the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday at Valley Fourth Memorial Church, 2303 S. Bowdish.

Badgero is the president of North American Indian Ministries. All are invited to attend.

Breakfast at Christ Lutheran

Christ Lutheran Church, 13009 E. Broadway, will host a fund-raising breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. Sunday. The meal is by donation, with all proceeds benefiting the Happy Helpers, a group of church members who provide labor and materials for various projects around the church.
