11-Year-Old Suspect In Robbery Attempt

From Staff Reports

Spokane police are investigating an attempted robbery at knifepoint Monday night involving two children.

The incident happened in the 4100 block of North Regal about 5:15 p.m.

The victim, who is 9 years old, said he was talking with an 11-year-old boy about an upcoming party and said that he expected to receive $20 as a gift. The 11-year-old immediately pulled a knife, opened the blade and pointed it at the victim, according to police. An 8-year-old witnessed the incident, police said.

The 11-year-old said he wanted $5 dollars or he would kill the 9-year-old. When the suspect was distracted momentarily, the victim ran home and told his mother, who called police.

No one was injured and nothing was taken, but police will talk with the suspect.
