Volunteers Needed For Housing Cleanup

Spokane residents are invited to help clean up a low-income apartment building in Hillyard on Saturday.

Volunteers are needed to help scrape, paint, wash windows and perform other chores at the Martindale Apartments, 5313 N. Regal.

The work is part of “Raise the Roof Day,” a national observation sponsored by the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. The program is designed to improve low-income housing and raise awareness about the need for more homes for the poor.

Volunteers should show up at the Martindale between 8 a.m. and midafternoon. Wear work clothes and bring gloves.

Refreshments will be provided.
