Serial Killer Task Force Renews Call For Tips
A task force investigating Spokane’s serial killings renewed its call for tips Wednesday, a year after the killer’s last known victim was discovered.
Detectives hope some fresh leads may help them break open the case, Deputy Dave Reagan said in a press release.
The task force is chasing a killer thought responsible for the deaths of 10 women - eight in the Spokane area and two in Tacoma - since November 1997.
The body of the last victim - 35-year-old Connie LaFontaine - was found near Tacoma in October 1998.
All the women had been shot to death and their bodies dumped in out-of-the-way locations.
Nearly 5,000 tips about the killer have flowed in to the task force in the past two years. Thirty percent of the leads have been followed up by more than a dozen city, county and state detectives.
There are no plans to scale back the task force, Reagan said. The unit recently received approval to hire a crime analyst to help them in the case, he said.
Spokane’s Secret Witness organization continues to offer a $10,000 reward for information that solves the killings.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Secret Witness at 327-5111 or Crime Check at 456-2233.
