Prayer Will Be Topic At First Presbyterian

First Presbyterian Church will host a weekend workshop with Bible scholar Dale Bruner Oct. 29 and 30. The workshop is titled, “Lord, Teach Us to Pray.”

Sessions will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 29 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 30.

Those bringing their own lunches may attend an informal lunch with Bruner, with beverages provided by the church. People may also leave the church grounds for the meal.

There is no charge for the event. Advance registration is required by Monday.

Whitworth luncheon Tuesday

The Whitworth Auxiliary will put on its annual fall luncheon Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar. Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m.

Whitworth College students and faculty members will present a musical program at noon. The cost is $7 at the door.

Gonzaga Prep plans open house

Students interested in attending Gonzaga Prep are invited to attend an open house from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Parents are also invited to attend.

The school is located at 1224 E. Euclid.

S-R to offer religion coverage workshop

All clergy and lay leaders are invited to attend a workshop on religion coverage. Sponsored by The Spokesman-Review, the workshop is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 3 at the Review Tower, 999 W. Riverside.

The event will include discussion on how the newspaper works, how to write effective press releases about community and church events, getting your voice heard in the news media, what to do when bad news strikes, and how news decisions are made. Those on a panel of clergy and lay people will talk about their experiences with the media.

The event is free. Advance reservations are required due to space limitations.
