Health Problem Again Delays Arraignment

From Staff

For the second time in two weeks, a medical emergency canceled the arraignment of a Medical Lake woman accused of killing her 8-year-old daughter.

Sharon Curry, 41, was due to be charged Thursday in Spokane County Superior Court with the second-degree murder of her daughter, Jessica.

An hour before the arraignment, Spokane County sheriff’s deputies transported Curry to a Spokane hospital. She was treated for symptoms of high blood pressure and fever, according to Spokane County Public Defender Donald Westerman.

Curry had a similar medical emergency eight days earlier, canceling the first arraignment, said Westerman, her attorney.

Jessica was found stabbed to death on Sept. 26 in the driveway of her family duplex in Medical Lake. A new arraignment has not yet been scheduled, Westerman said.
