(From For the Record, October 27, 1999): Singer misidentified: Ten-year-old singer Jared Wagner has just released his first CD, “I’ll Remember You.” He was misidentified in a Pend Oreille County item in the “County Lines” on Saturday.

Adams County

Ritzville

Thanks to sixth-grader Dwight Lyle, news about Ritzville Grade School is on the Internet. Sports information, the hot lunch menu, special events and other news is available on the site. Lyle says he plans to update the Web site weekly.

Ferry County

Republic

County commissioners say they only want to pay their fair share. The county pays 20 percent of the bill for Tri-County Superior Court costs. Pend Oreille County pays 30 percent, while Stevens County pays 50 percent of the costs of running the court. Ferry County cases, however, took up only 13 percent of the docket, with Pend Oreille tallying in at 26 percent. Both counties want their portions decreased.

Keith and Pat Fish say a load has been lifted from their shoulders. The couple recently auctioned off nearly everything they own so they can travel the world with nothing but backpacks. They sold more than $7,000 worth of items, including guns, cars and furniture. Their first stop will be Penang, Malaysia, followed by Thailand, Australia and New Zealand.

Parents of high school juniors and seniors are invited to Davenport today for a workshop on finding and applying for college scholarships at 9 a.m. in the high school library. Rae Anna Victor of Spokane will run the workshop, which costs $5.

Pend Oreille County

Ten-year-old Justin Wagner’s first CD will be released Nov. 20. “I’ll Remember You,” was recently recorded at Rusty Gill’s Studio in the Woods. “I want to be the next Shania Twain. The next big star,” Justin says.

Spokane County

Deer Park

The Home School Outreach Program is taking a poll of families about interest in a high school/ home schooling program. The program could include high school credit toward a diploma, guidance from a certified teacher, reimbursement for approved educational materials and contact with other home-school families. Members of the Woodland Theater will face a challenge this season keeping audiences’ attention on them and off the incomplete renovations to the theater. “Three One Act Plays” by Anita Higman is playing. Tickets cost $8, and are available at Kettle Falls Pharmacy and Go West Books in Chewelah.

Whitman County

Pullman

The Pullman City Council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in WSU’s Lighty Building for its biannual joint meeting with WSU. Council members and WSU administrators will hear a status report on the Livability Task Force and Pullman Human Rights Commission. Future joint city-campus undertakings will be discussed as well as economic development and enrollment and program development projections for the Pullman campus.

St. Maries

Second String, a group of parent volunteers, recently painted the restrooms at St. Maries Middle School. The group has volunteered as classroom aides, detention hall monitors and monitored school grounds before and after school, and is available to work at other facility improvement projects as needed.

Bonner County

Priest River

The library card fee for non-city residents will increase from $10 to $15 Jan. 1. Another increase to $20 is expected Oct. 1, the start of a new fiscal year. The library has applied for a state library grant to fund a demonstration library district for one year as a way to show patrons what the district does for them. If the library receives the grant, residents of the district will receive a free library card and be able to use all library services free for one year.

Boundary County

Bonners Ferry

Ducks Unlimited’s annual banquet and auction will be Nov. 12 at the Boundary County Fairgrounds. Games and raffles begin at 5:30 p.m., dinner at 7. Proceeds support waterfowl habitat restoration. For tickets, call Larry Napier at (208) 267-3139.

Parent/teacher conferences for Lake City High School will be Oct. 28 and 29. Conferences will be Thursday 4-7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to noon. The Latah County Historical Society’s exhibit “Alfred Dunn: Storyteller in Color and Words” is at the McConnell Mansion from 1-4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The University of Idaho professor’s work includes paintings, drawings and reminiscences. Sunday, a free, public reception in his honor will be from 2-4 p.m. at the mansion, 110 South Adams St. in Moscow.

Shoshone County

Silver Valley

Snowmobile registration is mandatory in Idaho. Cost is $21.50 per sled and stickers can be obtained at vendors throughout the Silver Valley. The state returns 85 percent of the money to the counties which riders designate when licensing their machines. Shoshone County also has a grooming sticker which is honored in all North Idaho counties and in Montana’s Mineral County. Those stickers cost $5 for residents and $20 for non-residents with the money helping cover operating costs for the county’s groomer.

The Troy City Council has scheduled a public hearing on a proposed land exchange with the developers of Osprey Bend. The hearing will be Nov. 3 at 7 p.m.
