Mariners Pick Gillick
The Seattle Mariners have chosen former Baltimore and Toronto general manager Pat Gillick to be their general manager.
Gillick, 62, led the Blue Jays to two World Series and was general manager at Baltimore from 1995 until his retirement after last season. Twice he was named baseball’s executive of the year.
Gillick was the first person interviewed for the job, but withdrew before recon sidering.
