Retain Beaudreau
Much of the hard work on any school board goes unheralded. It usually takes a controversy to bring much notice to school boards. For 15 years, Terrie Beaudreau has quietly toiled away on the board of Spokane School District 81.
The Rogers High School 1966 graduate still lives on the North Side of Spokane, adding an important voice to the board. Beaudreau is not flamboyant nor does she articulate her vision for schools as well as she might, but she’s continued to add to her knowledge of education. For instance, she’s on the legislative committee for the Washington State School Directors Association and also active in the National School Boards Association.
Her challenger is Rebecca Heacox, a former psychiatric nurse who describes herself as “mom, homemaker and volunteer.” Heacox is asking probing questions about the district and seems mostly to be a critic of the APPLE and Montessori programs.
Beaudreau’s experience gives her the edge - and our endorsement.
