Keep Pets Safe This Halloween Weekend

Spokane County Animal Control officials want to remind residents to keep their pets away from people in costume this Halloween weekend.

Pets are often frightened by the costumes and may lash out if they feel threatened, officials said. Animals should remain in fenced back yards or in a back room while trick-or-treaters are in the neighborhood.

Also, children should be reminded to stay away from animals they encounter while collecting candy. Children running from house to house can be targets for loose dogs, officials said.
