Two adjoining neighborhoods where housing and commercial growth are big issues have planned separate meetings Tuesday night.

The Latah Neighborhood Council meets at 7 p.m. at the Tidyman’s Store on the Cheney-Spokane Highway.

The Thorpe-Westwood Neighborhood Council also meets at 7 p.m., at the Windsor Grange, 4420 S. Assembly.

Neighbors in Thorpe-Westwood are debating the future of their solid waste cleanup program after one resident filled containers with several loads of trash during a cleanup earlier this year.

Both neighborhoods are concerned about increased development that is diminishing the large amounts of open space in southwest Spokane.
