Weapons Found On Driver
Spokane police officers stopped a man at Broadway and Lincoln for a traffic violation Sunday afternoon and found his car to be a small arsenal.
In the back seat, officers found a rifle and a BB pistol, Spokane Police spokesman Dick Cottam said. They also discovered a knife with a 10-inch blade strapped to the leg of the driver, 24-year-old Noah Max Burlingame. He had several other knives in his pockets, Cottam added.
Burlingame, who gave his address as 1715 W. Gardner, was cited on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon, driving with a suspended license and having no evidence of insurance.
`Stay out’ means `stay out’
Two kids climbed the 8-foot fence at Joe Albi Stadium Sunday afternoon and entered the locked press box.
Spokane police responded to an alarm and caught the two - a 15-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl. They admitted they climbed the fence and that the boy forced open several doors in the press box, Cottam said. Police found several items that may have been taken, he added.
Both were booked into juvenile detention on a second-degree burglary charge. When an officer asked them what an 8-foot fence and locked gate indicated to them, they acknowledged it means to stay out, Cottam said.
Wanted, and proud of it
Spokane police officers found a stolen van Sunday morning stuffed with stereo equipment, fraudulent checks, a computer and computer components still in boxes. All or most of the property was stolen, Cottam said.
An officer spotted the van parked in front of 1423 W. Augusta at about 4 a.m. When it was verified as stolen, the officer checked the residence and found James Leo Foster, 49, Cottam said.
Foster had an outstanding arrest warrant - unrelated to the stolen van - that he had posted on his living room wall. He was booked into jail on the warrant, and the investigation into the van continues.
In the van, police have found cases of legal papers, which they believe were stolen during vehicle prowlings. They also found a Washington identification card with Foster’s photograph but with another name.
The van owner said the items in the van were not his and that a stereo partially installed in the van was not his either.
