UI Keeps Rolling, Tops Gonzaga
The University of Idaho rolled to its eighth volleyball victory in the last nine starts Tuesday night, when the Vandals swept Gonzaga University at Moscow.
Idaho, 9-3 overall, won 15-12, 15-3, 15-3. The Vandals have beaten the Bulldogs 13 times in the last 14 meetings.
Anna Reznicek led Idaho by hitting .471 and pounding down 10 kills.
For the match, Idaho hit .237 as a team. Gonzaga (4-8) had a minus .073 hitting average.
Freshman Britt Whiting led GU with six kills and six digs.
Golf
Eastern Washington’s Kylie Smith put together rounds of 78-73 to tie for second place at 151 in the Lumberjack Women’s Golf Invitational at Flagstaff, Ariz.
EWU finished in a tie with Portland State for 10th place in the 17-team event. Northern Arizona, the host school, claimed the title with a total of 629.
The Eagles scored 658. Gonzaga trailed the field with a total of 699.
Tennis
Rain washed away the singles matches at the T. Rowe Price National Intercollegiate Clay Court Tennis Championships in Baltimore.
Washington State’s Patrycja Gajdzik and Ana Maria Moura lost their doubles match 8-5 to the Old Dominion duo of Mily Kannarkat and Ana Redeljevic before rain washed those two Cougars and teammate Sarah Burrows out of their qualifying singles matches.
