Tacoma Star Picks UW
Curtis Allen, a Wilson High School senior guard, has given an oral commitment to the University of Washington to play basketball, picking the Huskies over Washington State, Oregon, Clemson, Syracuse and Notre Dame.
Allen will become the first Tacoma player to play at UW on scholarship since Lincoln’s Steve Matzen (1977-1980).
The 6-foot-2 Allen, who helped the Rams to a second-place finish in the Class AAA state tournament as a sophomore and a spot in the 4A state tournament as a junior, averaged 19.8 points a game last season.
