Check Out Craziness On ‘Line’

In my many years of experience as a television viewer, I’ve gained a vast amount of highly useless knowledge.

I’ve seen the full spectrum, from the good all the way down to “Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.” Through all this tube watching I’ve noticed something about the majority of programs on TV: They’re almost all the same.

How rare it is to find a show that doesn’t have some kind of police/courtroom drama or some “Odd Couple” kind of humor.

Well, I’m here to tell you about one of my favorite shows that doesn’t fall into either category: “Whose Line Is It Anyway.”

With Drew Carey as the host, four very funny men and women spend a half hour adlibbing songs, skits, personalities and dances.

Carey gives each person a random task on the spot. Regulars on the show include Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady and Colin Mochrie.

I’m talkin’ no lines, scripts or second chances. Half the time, I get so nervous they’re going to mess something up, I can hardly watch.

Needless to say, the show is never the same and rarely gets boring. How can it? One recent show, for example, featured one of the cast acting like a hyperactive lap dog.

So if you’re tired of the same old sitcom and you’re willing to be a little crazy right along with the actors, tune in Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and check out an original TV show.
