Here are some of the votes of North Idaho lawmakers in the past week:
No money: Members of the Senate approved an amended tax cut early this week. All North Idaho senators voted for the amended tax cut, including Sens. Marguerite McLaughlin, D-Orofino; Clyde Boatright, R-Rathdrum; Shawn Keough, R-Sandpoint; and Jack Riggs, R-Coeur d’Alene. The House failed to ratify the amendments, killing the bill.
A little promise: The House approved a measure, 40-26, that establishes a Promise Scholarship of $500 to encourage Idaho’s high school graduates to go on to college. Voting in favor of the measure were Reps. Jeff Alltus, R-Hayden; John Campbell, R-Sandpoint; Chuck Cuddy, D-Orofino; Jerry Stoicheff, D-Sandpoint; Hilde Kellogg, R-Post Falls; June Judd, D-St. Maries; Wayne Meyer, R-Rathdrum; Mary Lou Shepherd, D-Wallace. Voting against the bill were Reps. Jim Clark, R-Hayden; and Don Pischner, R-Coeur d’Alene.
Loan money: The Senate approved HB 668, creating a $20 million revolving loan fund as a last resort for schools to fix building safety problems. Voting for the legislation were Boatright, Riggs and Gordon Crow, R-Hayden. Voting against the bill were Keough and McLaughlin.
