Man’S Advice Could Haunt Him
A man’s money-saving suggestion could end up costing him his City Council seat next week depending on the results of a coin toss.
The San Bernardino County registrar announced Tuesday that a manual recount of the 3,700 ballots cast in the March 7 election resulted in a tie vote between Councilman Stan Brauer and T. Milford Harrison, a former councilman.
In November, the council voted, 3-2, for Brauer’s suggestion to have any tie vote in a city election settled by a coin toss instead of spending up to $10,000 on a special election. At the time, Loma Linda never had had a tie vote in its 30-year history as an incorporated city.
“Be careful what you wish for - you might get it,” Brauer said Tuesday.
