Plantes Ferry Sports Complex Needs Help

The second round of soccer and softball fields at the new Plantes Ferry Park and Sports Complex are under construction, but there is something missing - a snackbar and restrooms.

Gib Brumback, who is coordinating the work at the sports complex, said the design of the concession and lavatories is under way but donations are still needed.

In the past five years, the public-private partnership has raised $1.7 million in state and county money, private donations and in-kind contributions to build 13 soccer fields, five softball fields and a parking lot at the complex off Wellesley Avenue.

Anyone interested in donating money, labor or materials is invited to a meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Fire Station No. 1, 10319 E. Sprague Ave.
