Years with Power Tool: 12. Previously, spent 11 years at Montgomery Ward servicing small engines and refrigerators. “I’ve always enjoyed doing it.”

Favorite part of job: Variety of equipment he’s called upon to repair, and the constant training to keep up with modifications like improved emissions controls.

Least favorite: Generator repair. “Usually we get them after people try to fix them.”

Advice: Don’t adjust generator governor trying to squeeze more power from the unit. You’ll only ruin the engine.
