Alberts, Wv Stop Sandpoint

Senior catcher Kristy Alberts went 3 for 4 with two runs batted in Wednesday afternoon, and West Valley defeated visiting Sandpoint 9-3 in Border League softball.

Leigh Williams pitched a four-hitter for WV (3-4, 2-3), settling down after Sandpoint’s two-run first inning. Arin Martinez hit a solo home run during WV’s four-run third.

Shasta Burnach of the Bulldogs (1-9, 1-8) homered and singled.

Baseball

Adam Pegg had three RBIs, including a two-run double during a five-run first, and visiting Cheney (7-3, 3-2) defeated West Valley 18-8 in the Border League. Matt Risley doubled and tripled for the Eagles (1-7, 1-3).
