Palm Sunday Events Include Cantata

Churches all over the North Side are making final preparations for Holy Week and Easter. This Sunday is Palm Sunday, and some churches are also planning special events to mark that day.

The choir of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church will present the cantata “Song of the Shadows” during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. The performance will tell the story of the life of Christ. All are invited to attend.

The church is located at 1926 W. Chelan.

Mary Queen Catholic Church will host its annual Palm Sunday breakfast from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. The menu includes ham, sausage, eggs and hash browns. There will also be a bake sale throughout the morning.

The cost of the meal is $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 6-12. Kids age 5 and under are free.

The church is located at 3423 E. Carlisle.

The choir of Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church will perform the cantata “Crown Him King” during the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The youth of the church will serve brunch following the service. The cost of the meal is $4.50 for adults and $2.25 for ages 10 and under. The church also is planning daily worship services during Holy Week. Services will begin each day at 12:15 p.m. Monday through next Friday. The church is located at 4449 N. Nevada.

Square dance and auction

Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive, is putting on an auction and square dance Saturday from 6 to 10 p.m. Dancing experience is not required, and all ages are welcome.

Admission is $1 per person or $5 per family. Child care will be available for a nominal fee. Proceeds from the evening will be used to send church youth to summer camp.

Occasional Consort in concert

The a capella singing group `Occasional Consort’ will perform in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes, 1115 W. Riverside. The new group is composed of singers drawn from the Northwest Bach Choir and the Spokane Symphony Chorale. The concert is free and the public is welcome.

Men from Boise Bible in concert

`The Image of Christ,’ a four-man musical ensemble from Boise Bible College, will perform in concert during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services Sunday at Sunrise Church of Christ, 4718 N. Ash. The performance will include contemporary, gospel and alternative music. All are welcome.
