Space Heater Suspected In Blaze

A portable space heater was the likely spark for a Sunday morning house fire in north Spokane, fire officials said.

About 9 a.m., seven pieces of firefighting equipment and 19 firefighters were called to the blaze at 4829 W. Hoffman Place, where they found smoke rolling from the attic.

Fire crews had the fire out within 10 minutes but not before flames damaged the home’s living room and kitchen.

The only person at home during the fire escaped without injury, officials said.
