Ceiling Tile Falls, Ending Movie Early

From Staff Reports

A water-soaked ceiling tile fell to the floor inside an AMC movie theater at River Park Square Friday night while an audience watched “Return to Me,” an AMC spokeswoman said.

No one was injured, but the film was stopped and members of the audience were given passes to see a future film. Auditorium 18 was closed for the night until it could be inspected.

“Business continued in all the other auditoriums,” said Brenda Nolte, an AMC spokeswoman based in Kansas City, Mo.

A construction area was not properly covered and the night’s rainstorms caused water to seep in, Nolte said.

The water soaked into the foam tile causing it to fall. No other structural damage was found and the theater reopened for business Saturday, Nolte said.
