White Canes To Aid Lions’ Sight Programs

Lions Clubs throughout Washington and North Idaho will conduct their annual White Cane Days event May 5 and 6 to raise money for treating sight impairments.

Spokane Sunrise Lions will be at Northwest Seed and Pet, 2422 E. Sprague, both days from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

Lions Club members in the twostate area will also be stationed at shopping malls, street corners and high-traffic areas encouraging people to make a donation in exchange for a symbolic white cane pin and information about sight conservation.

Since White Cane Days started in 1969, Lions Clubs have raised more than $6 million for such programs as the Northwest Lions Eye Bank and Low Vision Clinics that serve needy children and adults with sight impairments.
