Ritzville’S Benzel A First-Team Big West Selection

Three University of Idaho golfers received recognition on the Big West all-conference teams.

Ryan Benzel, a junior from Ritzville, was a first-team selection and Doug McClure, a sophomore from Lewiston, received honorable mention.

Noelle Hamilton, a sophomore from Olympia, was a second-team choice on the women’s team.

Benzel had three top-10 finishes this year and led the Vandals in scoring with an average of 72.89 shots per round. McClure had one top-10 finish, placed third at the Big West Championship and averaged 75.29 shots for the year.

Hamilton, had four top-10 finishes and averaged 79.45 shots per round.

The Vandals men’s team qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time by winning the Big West championship.

Volleyball

As expected, Camila Schmitz, a 6-0 outside hitter from Novo Hamburgo, Brazil, has signed to play volleyball at Washington State. Schmitz signed with WSU after playing the past two years at Arizona Western College in Yuma.
