Fire Burns Warehouse, Apartments
A warehouse and two apartments were partially burned in an evening fire in Sandpoint on Monday, drawing firefighters from around Bonner County.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The fire occurred in a building owned by Tom Brown off Boyer Avenue near Baldy Road. Besides being used for storage, it housed two apartments. The fire was reported about 7:30 p.m. By 9:30 p.m. the fire was out and firefighters from Sandpoint and neighboring fire districts were mopping up.
Sandpoint Fire Capt. Duane Kuehl said the fire appeared to have started in a pickup truck parked in a garage on the lower level of the building.
The building sustained fire and smoke, but an estimate for the value of the property damage was not available.
