New faces:

Glenn Sandvoss has joined Birchell Hall Agency LLC as Webmaster. He is responsible for creating unique and functional Web presences for the firm’s clients. Sandvoss was previously a Web designer at Pyxis, a graphic designer at Hamilton Studios and a pre-press production artist at Integrated Composition Systems. Earlier, he was a self-employed sculptor of concrete figures and bronze statues. Sandvoss completed the graphic design program at Spokane Falls Community College.

The following physicians have been accepted for membership in the Spokane County Medical Society:

Dr. Sally S. Aiken has joined Pathology Associates Inc. P.S. in the practice of forensic pathology. A 1982 graduate of the University of Washington School of Medicine, she completed an internship at Swedish Hospital in 1983 and a residency at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1988. She also completed a fellowship at the King County Medical Examiner’s Office in 1991.

Dr. Ted W. Keyes has joined Rockwood Clinic in the practice of hematology/medical oncology. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1980 and completed an internship and residency at the Maricopa County Medical Center in 1983. He also completed a fellowship at the University of Utah Hospital in 1993.

Dr. John R. Caton Jr. has joined Cancer Care Northwest in the practice of hematology/medical oncology. A 1990 graduate of the Medical College of Wisconsin, he completed an internship and residency at Madigan Army Medical Center in 1993. He also completed a fellowship at Madigan in 1996.

Dr. Paula M. Silha has joined Spokane Emergency Medicine Associates in the practice of emergency medicine. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1997 and completed an internship and residency at Family Medicine Spokane this year.

Dr. Jay S. Tsuruda recently joined Inland Imaging in the practice of radiology. He graduated from the University of California at San Diego in 1981 and completed an internship at Oregon Health Sciences University in 1982. He completed a residency at the University of California at San Diego in 1985 and a fellowship at Huntington Medical Research Institute in 1986.

Dr. Michael R. Wiederkehr joined the Rockwood Clinic in the practice of nephrology. A 1988 graduate of the University of Zurich Medical School, he completed an internship at Wausau Family Practice Center in 1991 and a residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in 1994. He also completed fellowships at Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1997 and at Kantonsspital St. Gallen, Switzerland, in 1998.

Dr. James S. Goff has begun practicing gastroenterology at Spokane Digestive Disease Center. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1992 and completed an internship and residency at the University of Michigan Hospitals in 1995. He also completed a fellowship at the University of Colorado in 1998.

Dr. Terrance L. Hauck has joined Dr. John R. Ames and Associates in the practice of oral and maxillofacial and facial plastic surgery. He earned a DDS degree from the University of Colorado in 1987 and an MD degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1996. He completed an internship and residency at the Wilford Hall Medical Center in 1998.

Windermere Real Estate has added the following people to its staff:

Marilyn Camp joined the Spokane-North Wall Street office as a sales associate. She most recently was a sales associate with Prudential Crane in Spokane. Camp also has experience in commercial property management.

Virginia “Ginger” Westly joined the Coeur d’Alene office as associate broker. Westly has 29 years of experience in the real estate industry and holds the Graduate Realtors Institute, Seniors Real Estate Specialist and Certified Residential Specialist designations. She previously was an associate broker with Windermere’s Federal Way office.

Moving up:

The accounting firm of LeMaster & Daniels PLLC has promoted the following people: Nate Riggan was promoted to senior manager. He is director of general business consulting and part of the business advisory group in Spokane. A CPA and graduate of Eastern Washington University, he has been with the firm for 10 years.

Tom Dingus was promoted to senior manager. A CPA who works in the health care area of practice, Dingus received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Central Washington University. He joined LeMaster & Daniels 14 years ago.

Mike Kment has been named vice president for business development in Lee Enterprises’ Pacific Northwest Publishing Group and general manager of its publications in Spokane. Kment, who previously was vice president for sales, will oversee the Nickel Nik classifieds, Nickel Nik’s Wheel Deals, Nickel Nik’s RV/Truck Wheel Deals, Driveline, Smart Shopper and Home Buyer’s Guide which serve the Inland Northwest. He also will provide business development and sales focus for all of Lee’s daily, weekly and classified publications in Washington, Oregon, Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico. Kment joined Davenport, Iowa-based Lee Enterprises in 1983 as sales and marketing director for Unicorn Publications in Billings, Mont., and held several positions before being named vice president of sales in 1997.

Elected:

William D. Hyslop, a principal at Lukins & Annis law firm, has been elected to the Board of Governors of the Washington State Bar Association. The board is the governing body of the state bar association and is comprised of one member elected by the attorneys in each of the nine congressional districts in Washington. Hyslop, who was elected from the 5th district, will begin serving his three-year term in September. Hyslop is a litigation and dispute resolution specialist. The immediate past president of the Spokane County Bar Association, he is a former United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington.

Kudos:

Four Spokane-area representatives of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. have been honored for sales achievements during the year ending May 31. Recipients include: Peter J. Elliott, Kent H. Lupton and Edward R. Van Vliet, all Diamond Awards; and Bret M. Wheeler, Emerald Award.

The Northwestern Mutual Foundation has picked Robert P. Bishopp, a Spokane-based financial representative, as an “Outstanding Volunteer” in its national Community Service Award program. The annual competition recognizes exemplary volunteer involvement and dedication to charitable organizations and philanthropic projects. Bishopp was lauded for his work with Genesis Institute, a non-denominational organization whose mission involves helping struggling families. Genesis Institute will receive a $10,000 check from Northwestern Mutual in honor of Bishopp’s achievements with the organization.

Seven local representatives of the Beneficial Life Insurance Co. have qualified for the company’s annual sales councils. All seven are affiliated with the Garry E. Borders Agency. They include: Garry E. Borders, agency manager, and agents Richard G. Sloan, Todd Ashton, Nathaniel Jarvis and Joel White, all of whom qualified for the Executive Council; and David T. Demars and Ted Demars, who qualified for the Chairman’s Council.

Thomas F. Trail of Moscow has been named the U.S.A. Association representative to the International Four-H Alumni Association, a six-member group which will plan the group’s eighth world conference in Sigtuna, Sweden in July 2003. The International Four-H Alumni Association program, which began in 1948, promotes world peace through opportunities for mutual understanding. The two-way cultural exchange program allows young people from different countries to live and work with families, gaining insights into each other’s culture and heritage. Trail represented Idaho 4-H club members as a representative to Nepal in 1956.
