Scott Edges Lindeblad At Hyatt’S Invitational
MeadowWood’s Bob Scott fired a 7-under-par 65 to win the Guy Hyatt’s Invitational golf tournament on Sunday at The Creek at Qualchan.
Scott, who edged Gary Lindeblad by one stroke, picked up $1,800 with the victory.
Scott Shagool and Jim Coleman carded 69s to tie for third place.
Pro Bill Ross and amateurs David Barnes, Seth Enes, Chad Johnston and Shawn Davis won the MSC Premera Blue Cross Pro-Am team tournament.
Liberty Lake’s Marty Nauert beat Ryan Morton in a sudden-death playoff to win the Deaconess Medical Center Junior Pro Classic tournament.
With the low score (73) in the tourney, Nauert qualified to play with Qualchan pro Mark Gardner in today’s Tidyman’s Shootout.
Roslyn Folk of Coeur d’Alene won the girls junior tourney with a round of 83.
Folk and Nauert both qualified for the Premera Blue Cross Pro-Am tournament.
Volleyball
Spokane’s Trampled Underfoot edged Spokane’s Waiting on the Pig 25-24 to win the Spike and Dig volleyball tournament at Spokane Falls Community College.
Trampled Underfoot, a mix of Ferris, Lewis and Clark and Newport grads, finished the tourney with a 7-1 overall mark and earned $500.
Waiting on the Pig made it to the finals by eliminating two-time defending champion Fa So So.
There were a total of 180 teams that competed in the two-day tournament.
Baseball
The Spokane Heat edged the Brooklyn Bonnies 3-2 to finish in third place in pool play at the NABF 18-U World Series in Wilmington, Del.
Spokane, which posted a 2-2 mark at the tourney but failed to advance, closes out its season with a 35-16 record.
Dan Stucky led the Heat with a .500 average (6 for 12) and six RBIs in the four games. He drove in all three runs for Spokane in the finale with a bases-loaded triple in the fifth inning.
