Class-Size Initiative Qualifies For Ballot
Backers of an initiative aimed at helping school districts reduce class sizes submitted enough petitions to earn a place on the Nov. 7 statewide ballot, officials said Wednesday.
I-728 would funnel more lottery revenues, existing state property taxes and state budget reserves to local school districts for use in reducing class sizes, providing more after-school programs and investing in professional development for teachers.
Five initiatives have now qualified for the fall ballot. Election workers are now checking signatures on the last remaining measure, I-729, which would authorize charter schools.
