East Valley Will Be First District To Start This Fall EV Students Start Classes Aug. 30; Cv, Wv Sept. 6

School days are nearing and East Valley will be the first Valley district to reopen its doors this fall.

Registration for all high school students will take place at the high school on Wednesday. Tables with class sign up sheets will be set up in the gymnasium. Teachers and counselors will be present to help students through the process.

Incoming seniors can choose their classes between 8 and 10 a.m. Juniors are scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon. Sophomores should arrive between 1 and 3 p.m.

Freshman registration and orientation will take place on Aug. 23. Times have not yet been set.

The district’s elementary and middle school buildings will open on Thursday for new student registration.

Parents - especially those with children of elementary school age - should begin to prepare their children for the start of classes, said East Valley Superintendent Les Portner.

“Try to get your kids back into their routines,” he said. “That means reading to your children at night if you haven’t been throughout the summer.”

Portner also advises parents to hold off on buying school supplies until their children get instructions from their teachers.

Classes begin in East Valley schools on Aug. 30. Central Valley and West Valley students don’t return to school until Sept. 6.
