Man Cuts Down Tree, Part Of Cheney Power

From Staff Reports

A man cutting down a tree south of Cheney Saturday afternoon accidentally knocked down power lines and electricity to the west side and central areas of the college town, according to the Cheney Police Department.

The power went out around 3:20 p.m. and was mostly restored within two hours.

“I guess they had the tree cut the right way, but the wind caught it,” said Don Caterson, a dispatcher for Cheney police.
