WSU Basketball Player Arrested

Washington State basketball player Eddie Miller was arrested early Wednesday morning after a domestic violence dispute, according to WSU police reports.

Police were called to the senior post player’s residence, where officers questioned Miller and his girlfriend, whose name was not available. Both were arrested and booked on probable cause for fourth degree assault. It was Miller who placed the call to the police. They were released from jail on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrest report has been sent to the Whitman County prosecutors office. As of late Friday charges had not been filed. The maximum penalty for fourth degree assault is up to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine. Because it is a domestic violence case, other stipulations, such as counseling, are likely be part of the penalty imposed, the prosecutors office said.

“We are aware of the situation,” said WSU coach Paul Graham. “It is unfortunate and we are waiting until we have all the facts before we take action.”

Upon their release from jail Miller and his girlfriend were ordered to not have any contact with each other. That order is in place until Monday morning.

Miller, who was academically ineligible for the first half of the season, appeared in 20 games for the Cougars last season. He averaged 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. He is projected to be a starter for this year’s team.
