Betty (Waybright) McNeice Spokane
Memorial service for Betty (Waybright) McNeice, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at Opportunity Free Methodist Church. Private burial will be at Saltese Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. McNeice died Thursday.
She graduated from Central Valley High School and graduated cum laude from Washington State College, where she was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She served as house president and was a member of the Mortar Board.
Mrs. McNeice later received a master’s degree in education from Holy Names College.
She taught history and world affairs for 30 years at Central Valley High School.
Her husband of 50 years, James, died in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Randy McNeice; a brother, Bud Waybright; and two grandchildren.
Eloise Bock Spokane
Service for Eloise Rueppel Bock, 76, will be at 1 p.m. today at Fowler United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 58-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Bock died Wednesday.
She was born in Potlatch, Idaho, and graduated from high school there.
Mrs. Bock worked for the federal government in immigration and soil conservation services and retired from Valley Medical Center, where she worked as a supply clerk.
She was a member of Fowler United Methodist Church.
Her husband, William, died in March.
Survivors include two sons, Tom and Jerry Bock, both of Spokane; a daughter, Barbara Bock of Sandpoint; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Lois (Hoffine) Green Spokane
Memorial service for Lois Fay (Hoffine) Green, 66, will be at 6 p.m. today at Fourth Memorial Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Green, who was born in Samuels, Idaho, died Tuesday.
She was a 45-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband of 46 years, Dean, died in 1999.
Survivors include four daughters, Dagne Kern, Kandy Haupt and Nancy Kadrmas, all of Spokane, and Georgia Springer of Seattle; two sons, Charles Green of Spokane and Dean Green of Post Falls; two brothers, Earnest Larson of Cle Elum, Wash., and Charles Hoffine of Easton, Wash.; a sister, Rose Rains of Cheney; a stepbrother, Burch Hoffine of Cle Elum; and nine grandchildren.
Dorothy Thompson Spokane
Graveside inurnment for Dorothy Ramona Thompson, 87, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thompson, who was born in Coeur d’Alene died Wednesday.
She graduated in 1931 from North Central High School and in 1934 married Arthur Thompson. They lived in Elk for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Thompson was a homemaker and moved to Spokane in 1987.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Rodewald of Marysville, Wash.; eight grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
William Hoge Jr. San Antonio
Funeral Mass for William M. Hoge Jr., 82, will be at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Pullman. Burial will follow at Pullman City Cemetery. Kimball Funeral Home in Pullman is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Hoge, who was born in Lexington, Mo., died Wednesday.
In 1941 he graduated from the United States Military Academy and married Lily Courtney.
He served in the Army during World War II and in 1944 went ashore at Normandy Beach as a forward artillery observer with the first infantry division. He was wounded at Aachen, Germany, and received the Silver Star and Purple Heart with two oak clusters. After the war he continued to served as an artillery officer and was stationed in Germany, Fort Still, Okla., Saudi Arabia, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Taiwan. He retired in 1966 as a lieutenant colonel.
Mr. Hoge received a master’s degree in history and worked at Washington State University.
In 1997 he moved to San Antonio.
His wife preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, William Hoge III of Klamath Falls, Ore.; three daughters, Nettie Hoge of Oakland, Calif., Courtney Hoge Brown of Austin, Texas, and Lily Hoge of Swarthmore, Pa.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Hilga Phillips Spokane
Service for Hilga B. Phillips, 90, will be at 1 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mrs. Phillips, who was born in Molt, Mont., died Monday.
She was a 45-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband, Lester, died in 1941.
Survivors include three sons, Leroy Phillips of Spokane, Donald Phillip of Lynnwood, Wash., and Carl Phillips of Wahiawa, Hawaii; a sister, Mildred Robock of Laural, Mont.; a brother, Dale Aaby of Deer Lodge, Mont.; 14 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
