Crown Pacific Sells Trucking Unit
Crown Pacific Partners will sell its Yellowstone Trucking subsidiary to a Montana company.
The purchaser is B.I. Holdings of Missoula, which operates a trucking company called Bitterroot International Systems.
The transaction, scheduled to close Sept. 30, is for an undisclosed amount of cash.
All employees have been offered jobs with the new company. Yellowstone Trucking employs 58 and uses 54 independent contractors.
Yellowstone will also retain its name and its location on 3499 N. Huetter Road. The trucking business provides freight services in the U.S. and in Quebec and Ontario. The primary customers are the aerospace, heavy equipment and wood products industries.
Crown Pacific of Portland, Ore., announced this week that it would look for opportunities to sell nonstrategic assets.
Crown Pacific has owned Yellowstone Trucking since 1995. The trucking subsidiary has grown steadily, and its sale will reflect a gain for Crown Pacific’s unit holders, said spokesman John Mangan.
