Counterfeit Bills Passed At Stores

Spokane police are warning businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit money.

Employees at McDonald’s, 404 S. Maple, took eight counterfeit bills worth a total of $270 Friday. Police took possession of those bills.

Just before midnight, an employee at the Super C Store, 1809 N. Ash, was handed a $20 bill, police said. The employee tested the paper and determined it was fake. He told the man and woman who had given him the bill that he would keep it for police. When they objected, he called police and the couple left in a car with several other people, police said.

The man is described as white, about 5 feet 10, 150 pounds, with short, black hair and a scruffy, thin beard.

The cases will be turned over to the Secret Service.

Anyone with information on either incident is asked to call Crime Check, 456-2233.
