Twice elected state insurance commissioner, first time beat a four-term incumbent. Ran unsuccessfully for Legislature in Seattle and Chicago.

Reform Medicare managed care programs. Help communities protect their water and land from sprawl. End Forest Service subsidies for road construction, make timber sales cover costs. Opposes dam breaching, supports broad-based efforts for salmon recovery. Protect Internet users’ privacy.
