Dye Explodes On Suspect

Spokane police are looking for a young man who tried to rob a Bank of America branch Saturday afternoon.

This may be the same man who conned another bank teller out of $90 the previous week, police said.

On Saturday, the man entered the North Monroe bank and asked the teller for change. He then reached over the counter and grabbed a dye pack, which he thought was a bundle of bills. The pack detonated as the robber ran north on Monroe.

Police said the man will have red dye on his skin and could have burns from the explosive package.

He’s described as black, 19 to 20 years old, between 5-feet-6 and 5-feet-11 and about 180 pounds. He has “large brown eyes” and is balding with short, shaved hair. His white T-shirt read “Phat Farm,” and he was wearing a red baseball cap and white running shoes.

Anyone with information should call Crime Check at (509) 456-2233.
