76 May Be Affected By E. Coli Outbreak

From Staff

An outbreak of E. coli bacteria traced to a Wendy’s restaurant now may have affected 76 people, health officials said Wednesday.

All but two victims - both young children - have been released from the hospital and are recovering. The two boys, one 4 and one nearly 2, were in fair condition at a local Hospital.

Health officials said 15 people were sickened by the disease and 61 others have shown signs of poisoning.

Marion County officials say there may be people who ate at the restaurant at other times who are also sick, because symptoms sometimes do not appear for as many as 10 days.

Health officials continued to work with a team from Wendy’s to try to determine the cause of the outbreak. The restaurant has been closed since last Friday.
